About Claire Matern:
A born and raised New Yorker, Claire grew up in the food industry and learned everything she knows about food and cooking from her dad (who owns a cheese shop in Brooklyn.) Claire went to Millennium High School in the Financial District, and then went on the journey of college that took her to three different schools: London College of Fashion, LIU Global (which took her Costa Rica & Panama) and then finally back to New York to the Fashion Institute of Technology where she graduated with degrees in Production Management and International Trade & Marketing. While there she was also the President of the Entrepreneurship Society. She now maintains a balance of her loves: fashion and food (and travel!) plus lots of walking. Her biggest hobby is hitting the streets of a city (NYC or a new place) and going to food shops, markets, museums, and finding fun places off the beaten path. Claire's mission is to empower people to cook for themselves, friends, and family; encourage them to learn new skills; and respect them to eat when, how, and what ever they want (we all need a brownie some days!) Claire's goal is to take the fear out of food, and show you what to cook when you're still interning a life. As a former fashion girl (and one who still works at New York Fashion Week as an assistant director--just finishing her 15th season) she believes that if you can get dressed than you can cook.
